Powder coating is a metal finishing process that applies electrostatically charged particles to various metal products that are then baked on to create a finish that is durable and protective as well as decorative. Powder coating is ideal for a wide range of metal products for personal, commercial, and industrial use. It is one of the fastest growing finishing technologies in North America as unlike paint, powder coat does not depend on an evaporating solvent to “cure” and contains zero VOC’s (volatile organic compounds) making it a “greener” alternative to traditional paint.
During the powder coating process, electrostatically charged particles of powder are sprayed in dry form onto pre-treated metal surfaces. Pre-treatment at our facility can either be chemical via a phosphate wash system or physical via sandblasting. Once a piece is fully and uniformly coated, it is heated allowing the powder to gel and cure into a hardened protective coating. Once a powder coat is fully cured there is no additional drying time, just a short period for the metal to cool back down to a temperate at which it can be handled. The result of this process is a high-quality, durable, long-lasting, and cosmetically pleasing finished product.
Commercial Sandblasting
Oregon Powder Coating has the largest indoor sandblasting booth in Oregon, one of two booths at our facility. The industrial booth is 20’x 20’x 60’ with state-of-the-art ventilation and air filtering systems. This booth is able to easily accommodate large projects such as dump truck boxes, belly dump trailers, and large utility trailers.
